Program Mission:

The Accounting program is committed to providing a broad range of accounting skills designed to meet student aspirations and the needs of the business community. This program endeavors to help students attain their highest educational goals and to provide them a firm foundation in accounting practices and a firm value based foundation for lifelong learning and a career in accounting.

Program Objectives:

The Associate Degree in Accounting has the following educational objectives:

  • To prepare highly qualified graduates in accounting.

  • To prepare quality graduates to obtain positions in business, industry and government.

  • To prepare graduates in pursuing their education to obtain a higher degree.

  • To prepare graduates to communicate clearly and work in teams effectively.

  • To prepare graduates with high ethical and Islamic values.

  • To enhance graduates ability to engage in lifelong learning.

  • To serve the community through providing training programs and short courses

Learning Outcomes:

  • Recognize the role of accounting functions within the organization.

  • List and describe the main activities and functions of the accounting profession.

  • Recognize different accounting standards as defined by Generally Acceptable Accounting Principles (GAAP).

  • Perform basic accounting tasks to maintain accurate accounting systems for organizations.

  • Collect and process financial data from source documents.

  • Analyze and interpret financial information to help produce financial statements.

  • Demonstrate technological proficiency to perform basic accounting transactions and produce reports.

  • Apply mathematical skills to perform accounting calculations.

  • Use critical thinking skills to make decisions that reflect legal and ethical standards within the accounting profession.

  • Show responsibility and ethical behavior within and outside organization.

  • Demonstrate teamwork and leadership skills effectively.

  • Communicate effectively with use of ICT tools.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in numerical calculations of accounting figures.

After completing the program, students may take up any professional accounting occupation such as:

    Accounting Summer Internship
This is a summer internship experience for accounting students. Under the instructor’s supervision, each student must participate in a structured period of eight weeks in the accounting section in a selected economic organization. The course is designed to provide each student with the necessary education, technical, and people skills to be successful in an accounting position. The student must write a report about his summer internship.
